Geobukseon Known as Turtle ship (a Korean battleship) [COMPLETED BUILD]

That figurehead looks AWESOME! Now come on, Daniel ... that thing has GOT to belch smoke!!!

Nasty looking dude! Combined with spikes... Kidding aside, great job. Happy belated birthday, I missed it somehow.

Masts in place..... not glued.

Added roof details on the open section of the roof

Then added a section of the central roof (not included with the kit). On the real ship all that central roof section was cover. I just did a small section. I will not glue it so it can be removed ... if wanted.

Your modelbuilding prowess is getting more impressive by the day, Daniel. Every single detail that you are adding makes sense and seems to blend seamlessly into the entire build.

Thank you Heinrich !!! But it is too much. My additions were pretty simple. Nevertheless gives energy to finish the model. Now I need to finish the sails .

Cheers till the next update

Hi.

One sail almost finished. Yet I have to add a transversal wood at the top and bottom. Nevertheless, for future builders I wanted to show the detail of how I placed the rope that keep the sail against the wood sticks and against the mast.

General view

Back : you can see the 5 knots (circles). The rope is 1 piece. Starting from right to left. Like I indicated with a continue arrow. On a few lower wood sticks the rope isn't too tight and you will understand the arrow I draw.

Looks easy and yes it isn't difficult, but it took me a while to find the way of doing it with 1 piece of rope. The kit suggested 2 ways. One using independent knots at each point (the circles) and then you pass a rope that keeps the mast on place or the way I did it. From the kit picture i have to imaging how to do it. This way is most realistic based on the museum images.

Cheers

Good work Daniel. The way of doing the sails is remarkably similar to that of the sampan.

Just finished your build log. You have built an impressive model of a vessel that I had no idea ever existed. You solved several problems in the build and added details that made the finished Turtle Ship a credit to your skill and persistence.

WOW... that is too much. Thank you !!!

I am happy that, so far, you have enjoyed the built. I am not too far of finishing it.
