Looking great Larry! Appreciate the tips on walnut and how it splinters....Building time=33 hours
I am planking and planking and planking……
Getting some great experience planking with the walnut. Way easier to bend but splinters very easily. Hard to trim around edges or anything because the wood splinters apart. Trims much better if it is glued down well.

Forgive my unorthodox building style. I get tired of planking and move on to other tasks. I planked in my upper stern area and concealed the lamp wires. Kinda did my own thing. Also formed and installed the arch piece over the captains quarters.

I doubt it. if you know anything about rigging at all you will be way ahead of me. I have depended on my Eagle Scout son to tie all my knots in life, so I will have to learn all of them. Out of all the tasks, rigging worries me the most.Fantastic progress looking good you'll catch up to me soon. Good job
That's my problem, rigging was always going to be the hardest part and the instructions are very confusing I have a bit of homework to do.I doubt it. if you know anything about rigging at all you will be way ahead of me. I was surprised by how many planks I had left over, if in doubt do a quick count on starboard side to see how many you need. If you're going to be short you can plan for it.Starboard planking done! I used a lot of planking, hopefully I have enough for the port side. View attachment 235930
Hallo Larry alias @lmcneil1406Well, just opened the box tonight and inventoried everything, all seems to be in order. Removed the keel pieces and filed the edge profile on the first piece. I will try to keep track of build time in the log. I expect to be rather slow and cautious as this is my first ship build ever. I will also have tons of questions as the directions are not so great.
Build Time So Far = 30 Minutes

Very nice work!Been working on the railing. Just a few more pickets and then some filling, sanding and a final coat of black stain. Son is home from Grad School for a few weeks so not much building will be done.
