Gold Version of the Black Pearl - My First Build

[Ahoy All]

I’m still around guys. All of my time has been diverted to wood floor installation in my home. I’m almost done but then need to do baseboards and paint so the build will slow for a bit. Also doing a bamboo wall in the bedroom.

I used some magnetic blocks while gluing the boat together, if I tried to clamps like that it would be a repair job.

You guys were right! This little bugger was a challenge. I think I logged about 8 hours on it and still need to place the rudder.

, I know this is out of order but the Lanterns were calling my name. I don’t like the fiddly collars the kit provides so I decided to fab some wood ones on my lathe. They will require some tweaking when it come times to mount them but I think they will work fine. Process is listed below

Started with a piece of Cocobolo.

Finished the Grand Staircase. Pretty difficult task that I just freehanded for the most part. I just need to fill a couple of gaps and touch up paint. Also placed the two cannons below the staircase.

Nice job Larry. Yeah, I had to make the two lower steps on each of my stair as well as all the ones for the stairs from the gun deck to the main deck....the kit was a bit too short and I believe I may have used the wrong ones for the first ladder from the lower deck to the gun deck. Ha!

Went to the Maritime Museum in Bath Maine. Very interesting and tons of Model ShipsThe museum is set on a scenic active waterfront on the banks of the Kennebec River and includes the historic Percy and Small Shipyard with five original 19th-century buildings, a Victorian-era shipyard owner's home and New England's largest sculpture – a full size representation of the largest wooden sailing vessel ever built, the six-masted schooner Wyoming.

Took a sail on the 109 year old Lobster sloop “Chrissy” while at Bar Harbor. Nice little sail on a cool little boat.
