Been working on cleaning up the outer frames of the hull today.
Lots of sanding to remove the laser char and getting a smooth run for the planking. Photos below is partial sanding of the areas. I stopped to take a few photos of my progress.

The length of the ship from the stem to the stern is 840 mm and it 1/48 scale. .
Theres no masting with the kit as its an Admiralty model with stub masts, but I am contemplating scratch building the masts and spars myself.
I am just tidying up a few things and see a number of laser cut parts have been replicated twice in the cutting program. These timber pieces are left over after the framing of the hull.
Its no big deal, but I post this so the manufacturer can keep an eye on wastage and make adjustments in the future. .

Been out in the workshop and thought I would post a few photos of the current status of my model as I write this post
Been cleaning up the stern transom area and sanding out the keel deadwood area where it meets the rudder post. The idea from what I understand, is to have a smooth taper from the frames to the rudder, so theres a deadwood piece of Cherry timber thats fixed and tapered.

Also glued down the top strip of the inner hull keel assembly.
The heavy weight is from an old clock to hold things in position until the glue is dry.

While I was waiting for things to dry, I started a small side project. I assembled the base assemblies for the masts. These will be attached to the bottom floor of the ship and the masts slot into them.
I still need to give them a final cleanup with sandpaper.

She's a beauty mate! Did you kept the amount of hours that you worked on her so far? It would interesting to know.
One thing for sure, the laser cut sections, would have saved you at least the time that you have spent on her so far.

I am sure your model will look even better than the manufacturer's one, as on this one there seem to be quite a few bumps in the run of the planks: some extra sanding would certainly help.
By the way, as other modellers mentioned, it would be a losing games to look away from these kits: there are more and more kits that are either genuine (based on illegally used plans?) or upgrades of existing kits. I suspect more and more modellers will be tempted to build one of these.
I am looking forward to see your next progress, so even if there is only small progress I would be glad to see your work......

just a small update, been making a work stand for the model. Just some right angle aluminium strips to hold the keel in place screwed to a MDF board . I also added some acrylic blocks to stabilise the model from any side movement.

I fixed the mast base in position on the floor of the inner hull. The main mast will slot into this.

A stand is very important in the construction stage. It doesn't matter how basic or elaborate it is, the main thing it's there, to help hold the model and keep it safe from unforseen disasters.
