Modelship Dockyard - New Kit H.M.S. Enterprize 1774 1:48 version by Modelship Dockyard

Hi guys,

This week the frieze will be avaliable to order through Dry dock models and parts. Regading the rigging, we have finished the designing in 3D, and a modeller who have bought have built the rigging based on what we have (the following images), we still think it would be the best if we can test it ourselves, as we have found some errors and there could still be imporvements that we can make.

The rigging piloting will be based on the hull that I'm currently building, which have been halted because of the gunboat build and some other matters.
While the gunboat is now finished, the highest priority will be the build of the new model of enterprize. The aim is to finish the hull by mid July, and the rigging by the end of September.
There was the thought of opening pre-order for the rigging and giving out discounts, but the final decision is to provide everyone who have bought the kit before March 2026 a discount, so the pre-order won't matter.
The build log will be continued very soon. Sorry to everyone for the waiting.

Victor

Fantastic!! So glad to see this is still in the works!!

I assume the new Rigging being designed is for the Enterprise 1:48 Version? Was this mentioned already?
Yes Donnie, the rigging will be for the 1:48 version. For the 1:96 version, many of the parts are just too small. In this case, the model’s proportions would become distorted if we want to make sure good buildability. In the future, upon special request, we may accept 1:96 rigging taylor-made

Thank you Modelship for the response. Will
carry the 1:48 rigging set?

This is something that in the future I would be interested in when the design is completed.

Do you think you are near the completion of the rigging design? ( just curious)

Kindly
Donnie

Will you show the differences of the rigging without sails as well? Thanks
Sorry Allan I'm not so sure what you mean by showing the difference here. But the rigging section manual will be in three sections: standing, running, and for sails. The modellers can stop at any point they wish, and there will be info about making any changes to previous works if needed.

Yes it will be avaliable on Drydock models and parts when it's ready. The design of the rigging set is ready, and we already made some changes based on the version that the pilot modeller made. But like I mentioned, I think it will be good if we can give it another run of piloting before releasing, and it will be carried through the model that I am making. I'm hoping to finish this soon as this is currently our highest priority project.

Sorry for the confusion. Some of the running rigging lines such as the sheet and tack blocks, tack knot, etc can be confusing to rig when sails are not rigged. Even
rigging buntlines, leech lines, and bowlines may raise questions as to whether to include them and where they should start if the sails are not rigged. I may be completely wrong, and most folks already know about the differences. :)
Thanks
Allan
