It is a reinforcement arm for the beam arm, and is not made of wood but of iron (in my case, burnished brass). It served to better support the curved beam arm. It was topped by a board to support the deck tin.I would like to underline the comment by Tobias.

and realized a special knee made out of black timber? Is there a special reason to show or not to show and choosing black?
