Drawing not accurate

The length of the masts is not indicated in numbers on the drawings. Therefore I measured the lengths from the drawings. There are two drawings, and the length of the masts differences on both drawings for about 10 mm. Not that much, but confusing.

Yes thank you Uwek. I believe the front mast is now 7 mm too short but when finished it won't be noticed anymore.

Unfortunately the deck was damaged around the borehole for the Mizzenmast foot. So I placed a deck box in front of it

Bucket out of scale


The bucket under the water pump seems out of scale. Also the material from what it is made from seems Yellowish plastic. I think I need to construct one myself from wood

Thanks! I will make one out of wood. I have some walnut wood I only need to make a hoop ( I hope thats the correct englisch term for the metal band). I know they made buckets from wood those days

Rigging the masts


Corel provides clear drawings and advices rigging the masts in strict numerical order from mizzenmast to foremast. I completed each mast as much as possible prior to attaching the masts to the ship. In this way finishing the masts is much easier .




I finished all possible component on masts and ship




Furthermore I decided to assemble all the deadeyes first. By doing this in ‘serial production’ I could achieve same dimensions for all.






Now it is time to start rigging the masts from Mizzenmast to Foremast. So in strict numerical order as indicated on the drawings

The Half Moon Corel kit


I do recommend the Corel kit as a first build. It took me 3 months to build. For me it was a second build, but my first build was 30 years ago.
It was fun to build and I am satisfied with the results.


The double plank method is suitable for an first build, the first layer is made of 2 mm planks. You probably need to sand the first layer ( I needed ) The second layer is made from 0,6 mm planks witch are easier to bend.

The 10 drawings are very clear and accurate






These drawings are clearly made from a finished model. Very helpful while planking








The building description is plain text (Italian, English, French and German). You need to concentrate but the references to the text are clear.
