HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

There’s also a Lincoln Park Zoo in the Chicago area. No negative connotation implied, just sayin’ :)
One hundred percent correct, Ron! And that was also named after president Lincoln. I LOVE the reference to the zoo - I think it is more accurate than what you might think!

Heinrich, very nice apartment !!!

It will be difficult for me to live there because I will not be able to look through the windows. Heights affects me.

Nevertheless, do you know if they have a powerfull enought generator ????? :-)

I can't imagine myself using the stairs to that floor.

Hahaha

Cheers and all the best !!!
Daniel

Hello Heinrich,
thats a nice looking apartment, but I guess you cannot use power tools there because of noise issues.
Bryian, I am in the fortunate/unfortunate position :) that I do not possess any power tools other than a cordless drill and an electric plank bender. But even so -there are only four apartments on one floor - two on one side of the building and two on the other. Also, because the apartment block is so new, it's relatively sparsely occupied so on my floor, there's no one but me (for now).

Thank you Daniel. Being this high up, is not my first choice but I have to look at the advantages. My rent for this apartment is 2000 RMB per month (317 USD) and that includes all service charges. Plus, it's a 4-minute walk to school, plus it's brand new. So, I will just have to put on my big boys' boots and get on with it! :D

About the lift - I agree 100% - hope it is reliable (I have yet to decipher the brand - I would be very happy with Hitachi/Mitsubishi and of course, Schindler.) Power outages are luckily extremely rare in China.

Your new apartment looks great Heinrich, obviously you are taking your model building to an even “higher“ standard :D.
Thanks Roger! I am definitely taking it to new heights - don't know about the standards though! :D

Heinrich,
I live about 45 minutes north of Lincoln Park Zoo (Lincoln Park, IL). Your rent in Lincoln Park would be closer to $2600 USD. Looks like you have done well!

That is quite the coincidence Paul! Yes, the rent in China is relatively very affordable - it becomes a very different story though when you plan on buying. Then property prices are nothing short of exorbitant. Obviously I am not allowed to own property here - not that I could ever afford it - even if it was allowed.

Heinrich my friend, i am way to late for your Birthday, but that appartment looks like a perfect place to live, and your little ship, the Willem Barentsz is looking superb, almost like a piece of art

Thank you very much for all the kind words Peter - it is much appreciated! Thumbsup

I got about 29 jumps I think it was before I got married 42 years ago, the almost Admiral said I could still jump or get married but not both, I hope I made the better choice.
I really got into skydiving. I was in the US Army and jumping was mostly free. I quit after getting custody of my 5 year old daughter from a divorce - I no longer could take the risk...

Thank you Dean. I have received the green light today so now all the fun and games can be put into motion. If the elevator breaks, it's a bonus day in the shipyard! :)

Congratulations on getting your apartment and being so close to your work Heinrich! I'm really happy for you and your wife.
Hopefully your school's subsidy program will kick in for you as well.
