Hello Dear Friends
Tonight's update is not about shipbuilding per se, but about the future home of the Nantong Shipyard.
Ever since I have started teaching at the new school, I have been eyeing this block of apartments which are literally just across the street from the school. Today I pulled the plug and did some serious negotiations with the agent. It turns out that there is an apartment available in the block indicated by the arrow.
On the 26th floor out of 27.
This is the view from the main bedroom window (there are 3 bedrooms).
Bedroom number two thus becomes a potential shipyard ...
Or I can simply build in the dining/living room.
Now I need to convince the school that I will not be using their supplied apartment - instead they need to subsidize this one!
And the name of the community? Believe it or not? Lincoln Park (like the automobile)!

That looks like a splendid place to live. I hope it works out for you.

Perhaps I visit you when I have to do some mountain training: using the stairs.

Thank you Ron. The location is also the big advantage to me - no taxis, no issues when the weather is inclement, and I save one-and-a-half hours on the road!

Thank you for the birthday wishes Glenn. The penthouse apartment is actually available and the cost is not much more, The big drawback to me though is that it's balcony is open and its therefore not as practical (in my opinion, at least)!Belated Happy Birthday Heinrich!

Thank you very much my friend. It's actually considerably smaller than my current apartment, but during the week I will be on my own, so I wont really notice the difference!

... A spare bedroom shipyard is an awesome thing- good luck with your negotiations with the school. .......Lincoln Park....also the band. Cheers

I'm required to work at heights. In my job interviews when asked if I'm afraid of heights my response is "No, I'm not afraid of heights, not even afraid of falling. It's that sudden stop at the bottom that terrifies me." It's worked for me several times 
When you said Lincoln Park I actually thought of the President by that name. Does that make me a typical conceited American?

Well good looking apartment and space for workshop, you can let dust fly out window and land miles away.
At least we don't have to worry about the new ship yard being flooded that high up, or we are all in trouble.

I think that the Lincoln car franchise in China had an involvement in the development of the apartment complex, and in turn, the car company was named after President Lincoln. Thank you Kurt. My current apartment arrived with Noah in China so I wasn't too perturbed about sanding dust and the like. The new one though is brand new, so I will have to take much greater care. And about flooding - if this apartment were to be flooded because of natural causes, the reference to Noah would not have been out of place!
