HIGH HOPES, WILD MEN AND THE DEVIL’S JAW - Willem Barentsz Kolderstok 1:50

Hello Dear Friends

Both sides of the bulwarks have been heightened at the stern and the D-Deck has been placed.

The inner bracing still needs to be added, but that is for another day.

I still find it amazing how differently the Huawei and the Oppo phones portray the color of the walnut.

But what she really enjoys is natural light.

Happy Birthday Heinrich! The D deck looks fantastic. Of the six photos in this post, I like the third one down the best. Not sure what phone cam it is from but love the richness of tone. I like the natural light as well and I bet if the sun was out (looks like it isn't) it would even enhance it more. I think the best natural light of the day comes in late afternoon full sun where everything has a golden look.

Thank you very much for the very kind words Daniel and for the birthday wishes. I agree with you on the afternoon sun - but at the moment it's obviously winter in China and at four in the afternoon it starts getting dark. The only natural light I can get is on my "balcony" - otherwise I have to take the streets and parks with the Willem B. The third one is from the Huawei and it is much richer in color!

My very best wishes on your birthday Heinrich.
Thank you very much Roger - much appreciated. It was just a very low-keyed day with the restrictive measures that the latest spike of Covid in China, has caused.

Well, I don't anything about phones and cameras, but I do know fine woodworking when I see it. That is some exceptionally clean and precise work Heinrich - you have upped your game for this little model. Bravo! (And best wishes for a happy birthday!)
Thank you very much for your very generous compliments Paul - I am happy with the work done so far. Thank you also for the birthday wishes!

Lunch today was my favorite dish in China - fried fish (just don't ask me what fish it was!);

Drinks were Mango "Tea" (that is what it is called) ...

Judging by the packaging, the cake looked very feminine ...

... which it was! ROTF It was promptly spruced up with two models of the "HMS Confectionery" which were placed in the background!

First, a very Happy Birthday.

Second, those pictures are fantastic. The colors from either phone make for great photos. I’d be tempted to stop building and just display that little hull as is. Nice job.

Thank you very much Jan, but this little ship has been so co-operative that she deserves to be finished! :)

Happy Birthday Heinrich!
Hope you have a great day! The ship looks fantastic! ;)
Thank you very much for the kind words Dean. I just stayed at home and watched some old movies - but that was also good! Thank you for the comments on the WB!Thumbsup

Happy Birthday! Birthday-Cake Once again my salivary glands are getting a workout from reading your log.

Re photos: it looks to me like the color settings are different on each photo. You should find a setting on each phone for "color temperature" aka "indoor/outdoor", "color balance" or something similar. One photo looks balanced for indoor light (~3000K or warm) the other for outdoor light (~5000K or cool). Or you just use the camera photos you like best! Color accuracy in photography is a moving target.

And that model looks as yummie as the cake. ;)
Fair winds.. Ed
