HM Sloop Fly, 1776 - scale 1/36 by own reconstruction and the books from David Antscherl

The model of the Fly is the first of a planned series of three models intended to represent the various types of sloops:

A pity as well a big issue NMM no longer sells these plans to UE. Is anyone out UE available to buy them for me and, in case, for any SOS member interested in? Thanks in advance!

In addition to the low resolution versions that are on the RMG Collections website available for free you can purchase the high res version as mentioned by Christian. There are free high resolution copies of these same plans from RMG of a couple of the Swan Class ships at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ship_plans_of_the_Royal_Museums_Greenwich

Be careful to get the correct year. For example there are two set of Swan plans, one from 1766 and one from 1781. The design provided for 16 gunports (8 per side, excluding the bridle-ports) and one pair was initially left unoccupied, and the ships were always rated at 14 guns. However, an eighth pair of guns was added from 1780 onwards to utilize the vacant ports, without any change in the nominal rating.

Do you have the original contract of her sister Hornet 1775? It gives the dimensions of every part of the vessel. Just in case I have attached a PDF of my transcribed copy.

Hi Kent,
If you are referring to the contract it is the PDF attached in post #124 that you can download. For the high resolution drawings go to the website and scroll through to page 8. For Fly there are only profile drawings in high resolution. The second one is a rarity as it shows her painted decorations very nicely.

There are other Swan class drawings, some of which are high resolution in the Wiki list. Check out the list as well as RMG Collections for the 25 vessels in the class. For example there are couple drawings of Atalanta that you might find useful. Be careful though, there are drawings of Hound but not the Hound 1775 of the Swan class, but rather a later brig of 1795. The list below is the Swan Class sloops with pertinent information on each.
