Thank you Bobby. That makes sense. Chere’s GrantI just finished the crowsfeet lines on another model and was told that he crowsfeet lines are used to keep the sails from tangling or rubbing on the stays. Nothing more than that.

Great work on rigging! Keep it up! I can imagine how grandiose it will look at the end.A quick update :
Here is what the crows feet finally looked like tensioned up and tied off via block and tackle (3mm blocks - I did cheat here as I couldn’t make the loop on the top block small enough)
AI-FI
Mizzen :

Fore mast:
I could not get the spacing on the mast top even due to the support beams (this happens when you scratch build without proper plans). The symmetry is cool and it looks good, just not 100% accurate. Some more AL-FI.

The stays did pull up on tension but this was expected at this scale so overall I’m pretty chuffed with these. Cheers Grant

Thank you my friend from the beautiful country of Canada. Cheers GrantAnd so you should be, it’s all looking great
Aha, Grant in now also in the 3D-world. Then you also have to start with some complex handmade carvings.Good evening. A huge thank you to Dave from Lumberyard (@Dave Stevens (Lumberyard) ) who has sent me stl files of the figurehead, arch, scrolls and the quarter badge/balcony for 3D printing for no cost. I was stumped here as my CAD design is limited so a big thank you.

I just downloaded them into lychee slicer to begin the slicing work for the printer. I won’t use the quarter balcony as I intend to build this but it will be fun to print.
My total cost is still less than 2 cups of coffee in US terms thanks to Dave.![]()

Good morning Peter. I just know with my carving skills the lady of the Bounty would end up a stick figureAha, Grant in now also in the 3D-world. Then you also have to start with some complex handmade carvings.
Regards, Peter
Thanks Dave. Yes I did receive the windows stl as well. Cheers Grantyour welcome Grant
there should also be the Bounty stern windows in that folder
i am also working on the Confederacy, the Hancock, Oliver Cromwell, The Alfred
sterns and figureheads. are all STL files no charge a free download
Thank you Guy. Yes I too have had a line go up in flames. Luckily it was before I rigged it onto the ship so just a quick remake. Cheers GrantVery lovely progress the ship looks a real beauty and all the rigging looking really great.
Be careful from the flame so the threads won't catch it ,talking feome experience here
Hooo, and in very very fashionable late happy birthday
Cheers
Guy
Hi Peter. Thank you. It’s always good to hear from you. I hope you are doing all good. Cheers GrantGreat work on your rigging Grant, and i see that i missed your birthday, so i wish you a very belated birthday, i hope that the after party is ongoing
And i understand that i also missed the start of your Enterprise![]()
Amazing Job GRantTyler, the change is way more than a face lift! Please accept my coment on the gratings you are using. Even thogh they look ok, the proportion of the wood thikness should equal de one of the mety spaceGood morning. With my injury my shipyard time is increased however I am jumping around like ricochet rabbit on steroids. I can’t bring myself to finish any one thing. Full throttle……see what happens when I don’t get my adrenaline fix.
Channel- deadeyes- strops and chain plate:

I designed and 3D printed the deadeyes as I don’t have any 6mm dead eyes in my stock. I used the old chain plates however these are sooooo inaccurate. They look good tho. I am not sure these will remain so. May decide to make more accurate ones with some wire.
Started making the sheaves for the main yard sheets. Got bored :

So rigged my steering and tiller. View attachment 466569View attachment 466570View attachment 466571

I also printed 30 belay pins. These don’t look as good as the brass blackened pins but I am still in the zero spend category. They are resin printed and brittle so I will have to careful when rigging. Not glue in.

I need to STOP and fettle!!! Help

Ships wheel and fife rails for the Mizzen rigging. I reused the wheel. I could design and print one, but the old one looks good- a little small from a scale point however good enough for this face lift.

Cannon rigging a WIP:

Good evening Vic. Good to hear you are all good. I used my mini table saw. You can only go in a little and then finish off with a blade and files. Luckily there is a brass band to hide the cap line so it looks complete. The sheaves are just dowels cut thin and painted black.Grant, I just caught up with your build again. I've been busy with lesson plans and test building this year. School's out for summer! Now I can get back into ships again. I've really enjoyed your work. I was especially entranced with your cats. What did you use to cut the sheave slots, and what did you use for your actual sheaves. It really looks good. I also noted that you cut the slots from the end and went bck and capped the ends. I never would have thought of that. you are a veritable genius in engineering.
Thank you GuntherHey Grant,
very nice work. Great bounty. I'll take a look at your build report.
Cheers

Thank you very much. All assistance and learning is gleefully accepted here. I think my gratings have many more flaws as well. Scale was an issue however on an overall look and feel for a zero cost, I’m pretty happy with them. Cheers GrantAmazing Job GRantTyler, the change is way more than a face lift! In other words, the sides of the square /hole) should be of the same measure of the log with. Sorry for your friend and colleague Unathi.
