HMS Alert by Olympic1911

Thanks for your input Jim. I have made a card bulkhead using the outline of the cut-out bulkhead of sheet B as a template. Placing this into the hull the fit is reasonably good.

However, when placing my built-up bulkhead into the hull, the fit is poor.

When I purchased the kit, I had no idea that the bulkheads would be included. You can imagine my surprise when I saw them, but if there are to be no cabins on my model, I can live with it as I didn't expect to get them in the first place,

Regards
Peter

...the bulkheads\cabins were given to us as a gift, and it is exclusive only to SOS members kits. :)

Hi all,

this is as far as I got during the past week. The timbers in the foreground aren't permanently attached yet, that's why they look a bit crooked. I can imagine that I'll have all beams and timbers done this weekend. Then I'll start fairing the outside hull.

Hi all,

My ship came in on August 26th. I immedately started work on it, and so far, here is what it looks like:

I wish to express that the kit is exceptionally well engineered, I'm actually thinking about buying a second one. Thanks to all at Trident Model for doing an excellent job!

Hi!
I wonder how much dusty was fairing the hull? Given the kit pre-preparedness...
(And I wonder, if this could we a winter "living room" project.)

Radek

Yes, fairing the hull was quite messy. I could imagine that a project like this can be done as a living room project, provided that the room is vacuum-
cleaned after every session.

Time for an update here. After I spent the Christmas holiday laying a new wooden floor in my workshop...

...only the skirting boards now needing to be added...

...it is time to get back to more fun! In order to complete the deck-beams the galley-stove needs to be installed. Here are some images of the stove under construction. It was glued with five minute epoxy which was tricky as the epoxy also acts as a lubricant.

Once the black paint has fully dried the stove will receive a wash and will be drybrushed with brass paint.

so - everything is prepared
you have a parquetfloor, so no missing small parts falling down
the cat found already her place on the chair - good, that you have twi chairs
and for the dog the "futternapf" is already prepared
Let the fun start
