HMS ENTERPRISE 1774 by RichardJJS 1:48 scale. New Kit from M.D

Most drawings like those in Goodwin's work, as Jeff points out, show brick. Lavery shows metal plate under the stove and I think this then sat on brick. In looking at information on this topic I never realized the stoves varied in size for every size ship which makes sense considering the crew sizes varied. For Enterprise it would be 4'3" athwartships by 4' 6" fore and aft.

Thanks Allan. Great call!

Here we go again

The Illustration shows the Fittings around the well resting on the strengthened deck but surely it has the same layout on the gun deck
i assume the slatted compartment is on the Lower DEck
Is this illustration Of the slatted compartment on the Gun DEcl or Lower Deck
Its not copies of the specification i want but the actual model please

Stove included, 3d printed with lots of PE parts, assemble, paint black, looks quite presentable.
Already decided to fab brick, from thin wood with spackle for mortor.

FOUND the bits for the Pump
Hidden on J1 with the other bits to the pump But it would be nice to be on Instructions
Frankly, might be easier to simply make the wooden covers that cover entire chain wheel and avoid the frustration.
Frankly, I may do this as well. Either option seems suitable.

Here you go buddy.
Construction of well top, not much help Richard. No doubt, one of the trickier pieces of the whole build.
The 4x4 corners, i set up on my mill to cut slots…..rather tricky, probably messed up 4-5 pieces.
I suspect you're only option is careful saw/file work but it will be, no doubt tedious.
Remember, here, nothing is glued up at this point, just establishing location.
Good luck.

Its also really good to see imperfections' in your work \so much better than mine
NOT a critism a compliment

Curious, what imperfections are we looking at?
Remember, decks, knees, carlings in pictures all still need sanding/evening up.

Tim
I used to make sure everything was perfect
But of course nothing to this precision
BEING very critical
ITS FAR better than mine but just little things 1768729186906.png

just sitting there, roughly where it will end up on lower deck, below gun deck.
This may be of interest.

Allan,
Nice addition. Kit seems to follow fairly close with exception of lower, forward compartments for some reason.
That said, Gun deck assembly seems pretty close. Currently working to position forward structures and bitts since a fair amount position on lower deck, sundeck, and above. Want to insure all beam/ knee spacing will work out before glueing all.
Any chance you can post link to above ?

The deck plans as a fighting ship are in low resolution at RMG Collections and high res on the Wiki Commons site. The two decks for the prison ship layout are in low resolution on the RMG site.

Forgot to include the platform plans when she was built. See below

Platforms as receiving/prison ship for pressed men- I could not find any drawing but if you compare the contemporary inboard profiles of the original design with the prison ship design there are differences such as no magazine but the additional of a large midship platform to hold the pressed men. The original had no middle platform.

Note that she never had an orlop deck.

Hope this helps.
