HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

Good morning Gentlemen.

I decided it was time to re glue my stern timbers on for the third time:p. I absolutely know I will break them again so to strengthen them the windows and supports are to be done.

Whew this takes a long time………

I decided I am going to build this as per the kit with some of Grants creations.

Stern timbers with the inner window guides:

I added some walnut panels to the “guides” to keep the aesthetics of my cabin.

Windows. The kit windows are very cool boxwood. It takes a minute to cut these out and clean up. The inner side does chip so for my other windows I need to find another way of cutting these out.

The reverse side is just flat. I am having a very open upper deck so I added some frames on the reverse side for the glass to go in. In the pic below you can see the thin inner frames where they broke when cutting.I gave my first ultra thin glass cutting a go. Wasn’t tooooo bad.

Had to clean up the pillars- this was a mission. I think they are made from bone?

I stuck every thing on with prestick so excuse the alignment and prestick oozing out.

It is best to take all the kit pieces and check if I got my framing right, stern timber angles spot on, etc……..View attachment 574139

I was reasonably happy how the slid in nicely however there is plenty adjustments to do.

With little head scratching and some alignment work, I’m sure she will come out pretty good.

Will I ever show you guys a finished product….ROTFROTFROTF. Ricochet Rabbit is on fireExplosionExplosion.

Cheers Grant

Good morning Gentlemen.

Some more refinement.

The over hang by the top of the windows was too much. I wasn’t going to use the CNC cut and pretend planking from the kit and my 1mm planks I used where too thick.

Cut some 4mm planks from some veneer I bought for the base stand, stuck the old part in boiling water, ripped the old planks and redid with cherry veneer.

I also decided not to paint. I think the boxwood decorations and oiled cherry will look way better and fit my mostly wood build.

Bent this again:

So much better! I actually didn't like that dyed finishing.

She is turning out beautiful Grant. Not everyone will agree but in my opinion your decision not to paint is the right one. Let the different kinds of wood speak for themselves; maybe later add some bitumen to accentuate the decorations.

Thank you very much Herman. These windows are starting to come together….very slowly.:D

Good afternoon Chris. Thank you kindly.
Like Hermon said, not to paint would be my choice too. Another "Grant" masterpiece in the works!
Thank you kindly Daniel. I agree, the black just “boxed” everything in…..made the windows look square instead of angled so another redo was needed. My problem is I cannot imagine the finish until I do it…….and then…..$&@¥….redo timeROTF
Ah, that is a nice improvement, Grant. Well played.
Good afternoon Paul. Thank you it is much better…..it still requires some more work but for now I am “hopping “ off to work on my wales.ROTF
