HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

Hi Jack. Perhaps it will stabilise and look really good once it is oiled or treated. I have no idea how the wood will change with some oil or poly as this is my first venture with Cherry.Maybe it is time to find out:D. Cheers Grant
well, all i can tell you is that cherry kitchen cabinets look awesome once they are treated. The wood gets dark. In my humble opinion, a varnish would be all that you need. I would use a matte finish on the varnish, but that is just me.

Hey Grant, your progress is amazing, and your craftsmanship is outstanding. I'm not there yet but you now have me researching ahead to make sure I get my deck supports in the right location. Your ships looking good my friend.
Fully agree. Looking excellent Grant

Cherry will turn into a shade of red once oiled or varnished. Personally I don't like it very much, but is up to your personal taste.

Good morning Gentlemen. Whew I have been spending a little too many hours playing with this build lately. Been fun thoROTF.

I decided to fit the stern timbers before I take her out of the jig as this will ensure the correct placement of these. The risk is these will get broken when I sand and scrape the outside of the frames. I will have to be careful ROTFROTF. My bet is on these having a break.

Oh boy….another missing part. I did check all the parts according to the parts list in the instructions however this part is not on the list nor anywhere in the boxes.

Now I will have to wait for the part or change the plan. Maybe fit the deck beams in the jig.
Cheers Grant

Or it are the beams behind 59 …..

The most akward parts to scratch, obviously... .

Being sort of new to modeling can ya'll tell me what PoF and CAF mean? I had hoped that someone would ask before me, but apparently everyone but me knows.
D
POF is plank on frame as opposed to POB, plank on bulkhead. I may be incorrect but I think CAF is short for Cao Feng who often goes by Tom.

sorry Allan, why don't you post some photos to highlight the various constructions, it is always the translation problem. Thanks for YOUR feedback.Frank

I know the missing timbers got to be irritating Grant. I hope CAF sends them pre-paid shipping.
Hi Daniel. Yep Tom had been really good so far, very responsive, and I have seen on other guys logs he is reliable in this regard.
Maybe they are located on other frets? Sometimes it is not too obvious...
Good morning Jim. I thought this too- I literally (very boring) ticked off every part on every fret - I picked up another error doing this so there was some value in it.

Hi Peter. Yes these are those parts. I’m sure Tom will send me some of these.

Good morning. Allan has been as helpful as always :D
Ciao Francesco
Here you go:

POF 1st is a 50 gun of 1695, second is the schooner Ernestina aka Effie M. Morrissey

so it will be much clearer for neomodellers, Thank you always foryour helpfulness.Frank
Good morning Allan and Frank. Thanks Allan. I agree with Frank, often certain concepts get lost in translation - as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
Cheers Grant
Those are some pretty important parts to be missing. Not easily scratched (well, impossible without drawings).

True story Gentlemen.I think these parts are beyond my scratch making abilities. CAF has been good with parts so let’s hold thumbs Tom comes to the party here. Cheers Grant

Good morning gentlemen. While going through all the parts on every plate etc, etc I came up with a very unusual error from CAF.

Firstly the numbering of the beams in the instructions book is incompatible with the drawings. (The drawings are correct). Then beam 4’s notches do not match the drawings. Unfortunately I had already made beam 4 when I pick this up otherwise I could have just cut the notches differently.

I double checked every other beam to the drawings in case I cocked up and mixed up some other beam but this is not the case…..very weird..

Now Tom owes me two partsROTF. Luckily for me I can carry on playing with my ship- just change up the build sequence.

I run into the same problem with my hoy. A missing part is conceivabe, not so does a beam with pockets in wrong position, but this is it. Now all trust in CAF customer care, btw. Cheers!
