HMS Enterprise 1775 1/96 - First build log

When building the Euryalus model which was fully framed, one side was planked, the other side was not. Turned out fine and the client was very happy with the idea.
Allan
Yes that is a good look. I'm probably going to stay with symmetry for this build as there is a lot of errors on both sides that need to be 'masked'.

Just a short update.......

Larboard planking complete. Several different varieties of boxwood in the kit so looks a little patchy. It doesn't show in this image, but some of the strake colour varies from pinkish, bright yellow white, cream etc, but it'll have to do. I'm not sure that I faired the hull enough because all of the highest planking came out about 2mm short. However, the wales were a good length!

Starboard unplanked except for a bit of trim around the top to mask the fillers. Might include the wale, or part thereof. Not yet decided.

A tad nightmarish adding the front bitts. More than a little fudging there!

Gunports and doors trimmed, except the quarterdeck. Hatch combings completed. I won't add the gratings as the ones I received look like burnt wood, and it is nice at present to look through the hatches to the decks below.

Next up, forecastle knees and beams.

Thanks Paul.

Assuming I actually have the correct terminology, I intend to add gunwale and cap rail. I plan to include most of the large elements as they will be harmonious with the overall frame-like appearance I've opted for. It's the finer busy looking bits I'm mulling over.

I'm also toying with the idea of a half bow section 'a la Winchelsea' in the NMM.................
