All lower deck and hold assemblies are now in place. I should have shown more detail of the make up of the well shed. Sorry. All lower detailing is also treated with Clou giving the pear wood a nice rich colour. All this will be mostly hidden under the lower deck timbers and cabins, which is the next part of the build. This is an extremely detailed kit, although sadly, much of it will never be seen, but I will know it's there

Making a start on the lower deck beams. The instructions suggest these few beams be positioned first. I assume it is to ensure that they fit precisely in place over the well shed and the bitts at the bow, which they do. The accuracy of the design is amazing for these beams to fit as they do. The kit supplies drawings for slots to be cut at the front and back of every beam at the position of the carlings to allow for a 1 mm inset, but I have decided on butt joints for the carlings as I can see me making a pigs ear of the slot cutting.
