Well said Jim I totally agree. I have SORT OF gone the route you laid out. I send the STL drawings I have collected to a 3D printer via email that I found on line a few years ago and he sends the pieces back in perfect replication compared to sources I used in the past, including the ones I made myself. :)

I TOTALLY agree that the blocks, square holes in the trucks, fat belaying pins, and other culprits need to be critiqued with notes to the manufacturers. But, it may be that folks are unaware or don't care about of these miscues by the manufacturer so there is no incentive for the manufacturers to improve their offerings.

Hi Jim, I'm basically right there with you :-) I just know from some manufacturers that they don't do things "right" simply out of convenience. They know it's wrong, they could do it right (without much effort!), they just don't feel like it, which I find annoying ;-)

But everything is indeed getting better ... :-)

If I have a look at the photos, I think it is a really great kit which much possibilies to make a great model.
I have drawn a design of HMS Triton, 1771 (Revised Mermaid class) which is very similar to this design. Perhaps another kit ...

3d打印炮的技术是完全可移植的，实际上在戴安娜的项目中我已经让设计者给我一套，3d打印炮，但是说实话，如果想要一个比较效果的，需要制作者的好的的技术。所以我放弃了3d打印的炮，使用了不怎么正确的铜制炮。我非常喜欢你认真研究的态度，并把你提出出炮的问题反馈给了模型的设计者，我希希望你能在我的线程中继续指出各种问题，这是一个很好的反馈。如果你在中国居住的话，你的要求是可以得到满足的，在中国的模型制作者们完全是直接和模型开发者接触与但是沟通的。他们可能会给你一套定制的3d打印炮，因为这不需要什么成本。作为普通套件，他们选择了铜制炮。要满足大众的需求，因为初学者可能更喜欢铜制炮。

The technology of 3D printing cannon is completely portable. In fact, in Diana's project, I have asked the designer to give me a set of 3D printing cannons. But to be honest, if you want a more effective one, you need good technology from the maker. So I gave up the 3D printing cannon and used the copper cannon which is not quite correct. I really like your attitude of serious research and feedback to the designer of the model about the problem you raised about the cannon. I hope you can continue to point out various problems in my thread. This is a good feedback. If you live in China, your request can be met. Model makers in China are in direct contact and communication with model developers. They may give you a set of customized 3D printing cannons because it does not cost much. As a regular kit, they chose the copper cannon. To meet the needs of the public, because beginners may prefer the copper cannon.
