HMS Surprise 1:48th scale by Artesania Latina

Short update, been few weeks as i had to fetch some additional wood. Replanking the deck finished 1779697635366.jpeg
The part for the cabin i will try to replace with black and white plastic tiles, I think that will look nicer. Started the sides with the openings for the gun ports

I always work in our garden house, when working on small parts (ladders, guns, ...) i am allowed to work in house ROTF
Thou shall not sand inside!

I eventually built a down draft dust table from some scrap wood, some perforated metal sheet and some plumbing pipe which I can connect to my shop vac. Works a treat! The large one was a bit cumbersome when sanding small parts so I also made a smaller one 30 x 30cm in size.

Hello Chris
What is the moulded dimension of the top of the top timbers at the forecastle and quarter deck? If the French ships like Unité/Surprise are similar to the English built frigates of that size and era they would be about 2.6mm at 1:48 scale. It is hard to tell from the photo, but they look a bit heavy. The battle station top timbers look spot on.
Allan

Yes they probably are Alan, as i progress i also try to align with the plans from the belle poule (from ancre) and try to adjust as much as possible towards those plans so they need trimming in some future stage
