HMS Thorn. Scratch build Swan class following the books written by David Antscherl and Greg Herbert

Yes, its always in a mess when i am working on something. however, when ever i finish one of my tasks, i clean the entire shop and put everything back in place. I have tried to work cleanly but just find it impossible, so long ago i surrendered and just have that one rule.

I have been asked to start a build log and have agreed . The first 35 videos are located in Vimeo, the rest are located on both Vimeo and YouTube.
Vimeo log starts with the first in the series
YouTube starts at video #34
The current build is # 74

The video log records my journey and includes all the mistakes i have made along the way. I am no expert so there are many mistakes for which i make no apology. My decision to make these videos is to share my journey and experience. Recently i came across a video by a great craftman who said “ when you die you do take something with you, your life long experience’. David and Greg have produced one of the best wooden model ship practium i came across. I only wish i had found them earlier in my modeling career. Now its my term to share.

I hope you find this log uaeful.
Hallo @Kevink
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake

Really efficient and avoids the swelling associated with water. Slight word of warning- hot air on the ship can soften and loosen the PVA glue on parts previously fixed. Prevent by the minimum use possible. ( As I previously stated, my hairdryer has nothing better to do)

Thats why i do most of the bending on a jig off the model. So far i have not had an issue. If i am having problems getting the piece to hold the shape, which does happen from time to time, i heat for 10 seconds on the model and let it cool down before adding another 10 second burst. This seems to work best. I now have build a number of jigs that allow me to get most shapes off the modrl.. Its just the finial close fit that i need to heat on the model.
