HMS Thorn. Scratch build Swan class following the books written by David Antscherl and Greg Herbert

Its going to be a while till my next video as the carving challenges continue and the learning curve is extreme. I have finally address the carved motifs which will include references to Thorn. Not sure David and Greg will agree with my approach but because there are no images of the ship anything goes. Its fascinating to see the skill level improve. Thats what our wonderful hobby gives us in return. There is no question that practice is the only way forward. So bear with me as i will only post when i surrender the my level of competence.

The journey has started. It has taken me a long time to decide on the figure head but i have finally decided on one. I will also see if Chuck and who ever else wants to print one for me. My choice for HMS Thorn is the rose and the thorns that adorn the plant.

I will be following Davids instructions, and make a few of these. This is my first attempt and its going ok. Got some clay and tools and these too will follow. I figure there will be quite a few of these before i my finial attempt. .

Carving a decent figurehead, the ultimate medeller task, for good. I sincerely admire your commitment, Kevin! The figure you chose is exquisite, bytheway.
