The top of the side gallery look like its leaded, anyone know if that's correct ?

Not sure what you mean by leaded. The area above the upper tier of gallery lights had a roof of sorts and often had wooden shingles. Such a large area would not have been made of lead or any other metal on Victory (or any ship) before or after her rebuild in 1803. I may be misreading what you mean though.

No Allen you understand me correct in the UK its normal to waterproof a roof with lead flashing i.e. old churches and such and with it looking grey and lead looking I assumed this was the case

Thanks Bri I was picturing a solid chunk of lead, Dopey me. An AI search says historically, lead sheathing, (then later copper) ,over a wooden framework was used on the quarter galleries. Thank you for bringing this up.

Allan, I now have the problem of recreating the effect of the flashing over the wooden frame (supplied) or do I just paint it grey ?

I usually cut a piece to cover the top of the quarter gallery then carve shingles and leave it wood colored. Painting is probably a better idea. You can also carve the top piece then glue paper shingles then paint them gray. Whatever way makes it look like you want it to in the end is the way to go. I am sure there are members here with better and more detailed advice
