I tried installing hammocks on my Constitution. At 1:100, it was quite a challenge. The supplied netting was not great either.

I comment on other logs how I always enjoy some pictures of the whole ship and then rarely do so myself (“pot calling the kettle black”) . Adding some Hammock cranes I decided to rectify my hypocrisy.

Hello Vic- I like this- I see you did your Hammocks folded vertically. As per a previous discussion had on my log this is generally accepted as more accurate however I went with what I liked aesthetically. As for netting I’m working on this now and I’m struggling to get it right(improving tho). The quality of mine is also sad. Cheers
I think yours look great. My nets were just provided plastic webbing. I didn’t have much to go on in example, so I just winged it.

Hello Dean. The Hammocks are still being debated with the jury. I have only made one and a half nettings with Hammocks so I will decide over time. My ship is not super accurate (made loads of improvements where I could tho) so hammocks in or out will be a personal choice I will make. Hope you are doing well. CheersI like it without hammocks. My netting posts were long staples and the netting was plastic. I spent 20-40 hours just making little bitty hammocks out of cut up bandages. I often questioned why I was doing it, but now that it’s done, I think it adds to the ship’s look. Of course, my Connie was a lot more simplistic than your ship is.
I think you're being too hard on yourself Grant (I have been lovingly accused of the same). The netting looks great - and I bet it looks perfect from a normal viewing distance.

You have started it and like @dockattner Paul said, it looks great. Just buckle down and do what you need to do. 
It looks good from where I'm sitting Grant. But I take your point, and I think re-doing stuff is part and parcel of this gig. Lots of wash, rinse and repeat going on. In some instances I have tried to do things with mathematical precision as dictated by the instructions, but more often than not it has been more profitable to simply step back, give it the old rack-of-the-eye look and think .. that seems 'about right'

At the end of the day, you will look at it far more than anyone else on this site! 10 years from now, when all these people have long forgotten about your ship, you will still see it!

Grant, you can (can-as in if you want) put the hammocks only on one side. If any one asks explain the crew works in shifts so normally only those on duty have their hammocks on the deck, the rest are in use. Also that the only time ALL hammocks are on deck are when the ship is at General Quarters (aka Battle Stations).

One suggestion for some nicer looking netting is to buy what is called "wedding vail net" from any local fabric store.
It is often available in basic white and some other colors. Small net pattern that can be adapted for many uses.
Many of my fellow HO (1:87) model railroaders use it to make wire fence for scenery on layouts.

Good morning Kurt. Thanks for this. I have done a fair amount of the netting - “passed the rubicon” so to speak. While the kit quality of this is poor (seems to be with most kits so no bash to Mantua) the problem lies with the “artist” here more than the netting itself
