The deck was indeed scraped with a small flat scraper, then finished with 4 coats of Minwax satin wipe on poly.

Hi

No - the normal way I apply the WOP is with a clean rag, leave for maybe a minute and then buff it back off with the cloth.
4-5 coats in this way is normally plenty.

Cannons well on the way to completion, still no finish on them.
The head parts were painted black ready to fit the head rails.
All the windows in the stern and QGs have been installed along with their “glass”.

Headworks on the starboard side almost complete, I think i will remove the hair bracket friezes and replace them to try to better match it all together so the seams are less visible.

Nice work very nice. Deck planking is a work of art Ben. From the deck pictures it is hard to tell how you handled the planking widths at the forward so could you post more pictures detailing the planking process or does the practicum explain the process.

So the Laser cut false deck that Syren supplied has 3 lines laser marked into it fore to aft on each side that gives you the position of each belt of planking, you then have to divide that up using tick strips just like I did with the hull planking so you get where every single plank will lie, and therefore get a nice moderate “curve” in the forward planking.
I’m afraid I don’t have more pictures of the process but it’s pretty straightforward if you follow the practicum.

Very nice again Ben. What I love about this kit is the light colour of the wood it gives a very exclusive look and beautifull contrast with the blue friezes.
