Hoy, 1760

I've been puzzeled for a while by the different clearance between the forecastle platform and the foredeck as showed in Antcherl's monograph compared to kit one. I indeed followed the instructions while placing the clamps for the lower platform and the monograph sheer plan for the forecastle.
Antscherl's layout would have accomodate any guy of everage eight fully upright, while the second had eventually required the same guy to bow somehow under the beams. ZAZ 5828 nevertheless seems to show a quite highter platform than momograph, apparently supporting my fault.

Quarterdeck planking and the waterway. Pearwood stripes offer a nice contrast with the cherry of the structure. I've tried with 5 mm wide walnut strakes enlarged to 6 by gluing a subtile stride of s the same wood, forming in a sort of plywood (with a great outocome, I may say) but I recived the pearwood I oredered in between.

I've done with the quarterdeck clamps, one of the most insidious and defining steps in the whole building process. All went pretty well, the two springers resulting almost at the same height, and so do the brand new quarterdeck beams built from scratch, due the wrong radius and, in one case, the lack of lenght of those came with the kit. By my own surprise, the aftermost beam matched perfetly with the sternpost I added to upgrade the kit, either by canting or layout. Hatch's partners fit fairly well and are ready to be glued in place too.

Good afternoon Albert. I have a new found admiration for guys (like yourself) whose joinery and finish is so neat on a POF build. Kudos. Cheers Grant

Good boat. At first I wanted to buy it, but then the choice fell on Alert, but I still like this one too. I will watch your construction, interesting!
