It may be insanity.:) Looking at contemporary models, some of them leave off the rigging on the guns such as the two models at Preble Hall below.

Some, such as the model of the Minerva below, even leave off the guns altogether. I think most of us prefer showing the guns, but if the rigging is left off, it would not be a first.:)

thanks for the pics. I just put on the breach line. I don't do the other ones although I am thinking of fully rigging the cannons on my Constitution.

Scalemates tell me that I have close to 60 kits in the stash, and another 25 started (yes, I do start way more kits than I finish), and that is my plastic kits only.

I tried to promise myself not to hoard wood kits as well, but failed. Have finished two (Occre Terror, and Model Shipways' Norwegian Sailing Pram, one going on right now, but there are six wood kits in the stash. Three from CAF models, two from Pavel Nikitin, and one Model Airways kit. I blame the kit reviews section in here! :D

I also trash projects sometimes, either if I mess things up too badly, or things simply drag on for too long and I lose interest. The benefit of building wood models, is that they can provide heat in the winter.

Holy madness. May we not lack patience, pulse and vision to be able to finish what we have under construction or on hold.

I think it is normal; then one has choices. I have 2 benches going. Funny! I just did inventory this week. I have 40 wooden model boat/ship kits in queue. Recently, I started building plastic military models. (Gotta' say--really like the wooden boats better!) I recently did a couple of building block jets: F-15 and F-18, and donated to a local military museum. Have also done a P51 Mustang, Willy's Jeep, Humvee, another Humvee with military police decals, and a Navy destroyer. Have 13 military kits--planes, helicopters, etc. in queue and 3 more coming that the museum is ordering (planes they do not have), and have a couple of military hospital ships due to deliver on Monday. I also have some other 3-D wooden models in queue. Just finished a working electronic piano model with full octave--sharps & flats. Have a couple of Steel-Tec metal kits in queue--a jeep that's on one of my benches and a motorcycle lying in wait.

I had been doing handwork to avoid RX for RA (Blessed); then donate (mostly prayer shawls) to my hospice pts to bless another. I had promised myself that when I retired, I would build the USS Constitution--started it, but then met Nic at Bluejacket and got hooked on the wooden boat model kits. I did get the USS Constitution finished between the fun wooden boats!

The military museum has invited me to put kits together at their expense for military planes and a ship they don't yet have. Looking forward to the P-3 Orion as related to what was our Brunswick Naval Air Station here in Maine. They used to drop sonar buoys to be tested by civilians (one was my dad) for the Navy.

I have the 36500 CG US-CG Rescue boat on the other bench. This was the CG boat that saved the men on the 2 tankers during the storm in 1952 off Cape Cod. (Book and Movie: The Finest Hours

Seems to me, just like quilters and knitters (speaking from experience), a stash is very "normal," but who defines "normal" for such interest?

Be Blessed!

Well at close to 200+ plastic models, planes, tanks, and ships. I am set for the rest of the century and the next. It is an addiction, the CHO, (Chief of Home Operations) has warned me that an intervention is scheduled if another package arrives from a shop of questionable repute arrives. Oh well, four pre-orders and a package in the mail from overseas. Yup, my days are numbered. And that does not include the research library!
