Kingfisher 1770 1:48 POF

Well, I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot I have a build log and started making things without taking pictures.

Here is a completed fore jeer bit installed on the model:

And below you will see the forecastle breastwork and belfry nearing the end of construction. I need to source a tiny bell and some tiny sheaves before this part is done (still needs a finish applied).

I used my mill to create the posts for the belfry (the slashed-out bit is from the kit). The 'roof' of the belfry is made from kit parts - a clever design by Mr. Hunt that I did not think I could improve upon.

Once I wrap up this forecastle breastwork that will bring the build-out of the forecastle deck and quarterdeck to a close (well, a ladder and scuttle covers will be added). Next, we're going overboard as attention turns to the exterior hull...

Thanks for stopping by!
Just top class!! Very cool done!! I want more)))

Fantastic detail and workmanship displayed in all aspects of this model. Beautiful!! Well done Paul

As usual .. beatuifuuuul! :-)

Dirk
Thank you, Dirk. I'm trying my best!

Good afternoon Paul. Exquisite work and joinery. I love the joins from the railing onto the posts of the belfry. Lovely details. Cheers Grant
Thank you for noticing, Grant! Some very delicate XActo work there - and a bit dangerous if anything slipped.

Oh yes beautiful work.
Thank you, my friend. I have to say that these additions are making the ship!

Like Peter @pingu57 I have caught up with your log again after some time. I really missed out. You are a miracle worker.
We miss seeing you, Herman! Maybe an update on your wonderful build one day soon?

Thank you, Sergey. I'm enjoying following your work as well.

Now I am really concerned. So I threw a “wow” in to help your memory ROTF.

(Beautiful work as usual Paul).
Thanks, Roger. Sometimes in the heat of battle we forget to take a moment to appreciate what's happening right in front of us.

Much appreciated, Keef. You're not the only one who likes these POF models!

Lately I have been too preoccupied to really enjoy spending time in the shipyard.
My mother's (95) health is increasingly failing her. Today she was finally admitted to a nursing home.
That will at least give us some peace of mind.

Beautiful work Paul. I can’t imagine it could be done any better.
Thank you very much, Dean. There's no size reference in the images but I can assure you everything is quite small. A challenge!

Paul,
I'm out of superlatives......... stunning work First Place Metal
No superlatives needed. Thanks for following along!

Really wonderful progress, Paul.
Much appreciated, Christian. These parts are more interesting than some other aspects of the build...

Absolutely right, that's how I see it too.
Thanks, Adi. Slowly a ship is emerging from pieces of wood.

Thanks, Grant. And soon it will be your turn to take a swing at a POF ship model!

everything has been said already a few hundred times

I’ve actually stopped ‘watching’ the thread because of all the notifications that lead only to awestruck praises and modest acknowledgements. (See the last 17 posts!)

You could say that the notifications became a paean in the neck! Ha ha ha, oh my!

I just drop in from time to time and scroll to the photos. I think the doc knows I’m suitably impressed with his work as I’ve told him so a few times already. :)

Hi Paul, I have just caught up on the last 20+ pages of your build and feel quite depressed now, seeing a standard of modelling that is setting a new and impossibly high benchmark

Your precision is impeccable and a joy to watch and follow. You must have had a lot of very satisfied dental customers :)

Don't be depressed, Mark! ROTF Be INSPIRED to make me depressed when I see your work (because of YOUR build-quality)!

Orthodontics for 33 years and ship modeling for 4 makes me a beginner at the latter. Still lots to learn and plenty of times I use workarounds rather than doing things the proper way. But with all the help I get from forum members I'm slowly improving. I will say that POF modeling checks a lot of boxes for me... When you enjoy something, it makes you want to do the best you can.

Hi Paul very neat work again as we are used to :)

Guess you can sell 80% of the kit after you finished it ROTF
Was that an offer? ROTF Actually, the wood from the leftover billets will make excellent carving stock if I ever get a chance to carve something one day.

Welcome
A bell tower beautifully made Paweł, you gave a milling show. Greetings Mirek
Thanks, Mirek. I'm not sure I'm using the mill quite right just yet - but I do like the precision.
