L'Artésien 1764 - 64 Kanonen-Schiff in 1:48 nach Plänen von Jacques Fichant

Hallo zusammen!

Hi Andreas
That’s an excellent idea for the tool made to create square pegs! The photo with the captain standing atop the ship's frame commands respect.Gold StarGold StarGold StarGold StarGold StarOkayBeer

Genau richtig.

Many thanks for your kind words and interest! I’m really pleased :)

Here is the link to the wood repair putty: (https://amzn.eu/d/0hKyZEKj).

For finer filling work like this, I also recommend using the small applicator tips designed for adhesives, so you can apply precise, tiny amounts.

Hello Frank!

The two-part keelson was taken from the plans. I based the nailing pattern for the riders roughly on Boudiot's 74-gun ship, as this wasn't shown in the plans. I hope I understood your question correctly.

Hi Barbossa, Yes, thanks for replying. The two-piece paramezzale is new to me—I'm not convinced. Frank

I also found out why the Artésien has a two-part counter-keel. Maybe there’s something about it in the monograph.

Thanks for the message, Frank. But why was the counter-keel made in two parts? The monograph mentions that it is two-piece. But why? :)

Could you send me a few pictures from the monograph, just out of curiosity? Frank

It looks like Frank is right in his assumption that the counter-keel does not consist of two parts lengthwise. Two other build logs also show it this way. I recall following Gérard Genevesse’s approach here. I don’t know why he depicted the counter-keel in two parts. Many thanks for the clarification, Frank.

Andreas

Thank you again for your analysis; my comments are intended, in a sense, to help those who aren't familiar with axial carpentry. Frank
