Le Saint Philippe 1693 after Jean-Claude Lemineur (Ancre) in scale 1:48

I was confused as to why drill the two holes on the edges...then I realized they defined the edge/depth of your "french" fleur de lis!

Ingenious! At this scale each of those will be seen by viewers as perfect duplicates, made by a precise AI controlled milling machine...the "doc-in-at-ner".

Thanks for sharing your magic with us!

And then tapered the hinge a bit:

Processing these was tedious...

If I was building the full ship I would have had to develop some other approach - perhaps laser-cutting or photo-etching? Sergey (@serikoff) is sharing a way to print and copperplate these sorts of things - but that's a few too many new skill sets for me to take on for this limited application. Anyway, doing these as individual one-offs required a certain level of perseverance.

Next up, soldering for the hinge itself...
You know my feelings about making small parts, dozens or hundreds of them... but in any case, I take my hat off to those who do it individually by hand. In your case, there's one plus... you don't have to do it for the entire hull. ;)

I can’t pull off anything like this without my bit wandering all over the place. Extraordinary work, Paul!
