Martin! That was the plan 'til you outed me ROTF

I got really busy getting ready for the fall semester to start. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have to prepare, I have taught the same classes every fall for ten years. It puts me in mind of a quote attributed to Frank Lloyd Wright: "An expert is someone who doesn't have to think."ROTF This year I am teaching a class I last taught in 2011 so I am spending most of my time on that.

All of my other time has gone to this:

John! I'm glad that you're enjoying the log and given the number of dremels in your collection I'd say go for it - loaded with challenges and opportunity for detail. But dude - you can't keep the Admiral waiting breakfast ROTF ROTF ROTF

Blessings.

These little models are so cute ;)
So, are you thinking about the next one yet? I have a suggestion, but she doesn't have paddle-wheels. :)
Jerry! Nice one! Here's my ever shifitng list -

Next was supposed to be all 5 feet of HMS Warrior - I have the kit and the designated space for her in the main living room - couldn't believe it when the Admiral gave me a thumbs up on that plan.

Then I saw a couple of builds of the galley La Real - Don John of Austria's flagship at the Battle of Lepanto - I have the MarisStella galley kits (in the stash for 6 years now) and I have the itch to build them.

I have also been thinking to do USS Missouri (the Civil War Era one I know she didn't serve but still - Missouri and a sidewheeler) - a first scratch build.

USS Susquehanna is also in the idea rack as a scratch build with McArdle's monograph and 1:96 scale plan set.

The original plan had me building USS Kearsarge with the BlueJacket kit ($$$$$$$) after HMS Warrior but I'm not sure. I have also been thinking about building one of the big Royal Navy sidewheelers - those guys have really detailed plans available.

All that said, shipmate, I'm dying to hear your suggestion!!!

Blessings, Peace. Gratitude.

I have McArdle's book on Constellation. He built a nice model, but don't reply on him for history - he didn't know anything beyond the first thing he was told by the first person he found, and ran with that. That may not be such an issue for Susquehanna as it was for Constellation. I was gonna suggest Susquehanna, since it was a side-wheeler, but I remember you mentioning Warrior, which means I have to finish the 68 pounder to go with the Armstrongs.

Hey Chuck,

da hat sich ja einiges getan in deinem Schiffchen. War lange nicht im Forum. Aber ich musste bei dir unbedingt vorbeischauen. Wirklich sehr schön geworden, fantastisch …

Viele Grüße

Gunther!

Servus! Happily, I can read and speak German. I can write it too, but I'll be missing umlauts etc. :) Thank you for taking the time to visit, shipmate and for the very kind compliments! I hope all's well and you are busy living your best life (which I hope includes making excellent tiny things).

Blessings. Peace. Gratitude.

Chuck,

An update - still only 1/2 way through your superb log. Your skill set is way up there. So - I had decided that this kit would be
on my list of builds, especially seeing the potential - mostly based on the images and notations in your log. If I may within your log?
Given that others might also be interested in the following;

Big “shout out” to Model Expo.

Hard to pass up at $435.00 ordered one last week (on back-order) all good.

Yesterday (7/01) went to their site looking for other items - Oh Oh!! - July 4th sale ALL items 50% off. Looked at the L’Orenoque - indeed sale price is now $335.00. Hmmm…

Called Model Expo. Voice mail. three times - I did not leave any messages - BUT today they called me... How about that!. We went through my pre-order. I said, “I know that I already purchased this item for $435.00. It’s ok, but, if you could accommodate the $100.00 discount to its now current price that would be nice”?. If not, all ok look I forward to the kit when it arrives”.

Well, Model Expo said, “no, not ok, we’ve just credited your CC pre-order for a $100.00 - So nice of them!!! Even after I said if you can't not an issue!!!

Cheers,

PS: Will get back to your log after this weekends burgers and hotdogs :cool:ROTF
