Mantua Sergal President frigate 1:60 build log.

Thanks for this ship build log I'll be following as a fellow novice, I've yet to start one. Waiting for my new work-space in my garden which is coming along slowly but surely. Great start, looking good keep it up, all the best for your build.
Thanks, good luck with yours too.

@J w rogers Hello from all of us! Do you make any progress with President? We haven't seen the pictures for a long time... We are itching to see how she looks now!
It's been on the back burner for a while I'm afraid, been a bit busy dealing with some of life's unfortunate events but will be back on it real soon! Just in the process of planning some further minor alterations to a few of the decks fixtures and fittings.

I was wondering if I could lend an ear for some advice please?
The instruction book shows measurements for the chainplates but to me the one for the mizzen mast looks to be too far forward?
So I was wondering if it would be better if they were more like the positions in the second black and white picture ? Thanks for looking 19DF9D4A-F344-445B-ABAE-6FBC0DC575E0.jpeg2CA1764B-565D-4F43-84D2-036D6D66D4AC.jpeg

If you move it backwards is it not going to interfere with the decorations? (that by the way looks much more rearwards in the W&B drawing).

For me I'd let it be where it is meant to be, if you are looking for innacuracies in the kit then I'm sure you'll find a thousand...

Regards

JL

Stairs were a bit of a challenge being only 8mm wide and made from 3x1mm treads and 3x2mm stringers which had to be rebated, but am really pleased with the outcome.
Having to be really careful now that I don’t miss any parts or place them wrong as the instruction book is really sketchy!
Also decided to make the ships wheel functional and operate the rudder, so here is first step of installing tubes for the line to run through, wish me luck!

Tubes are now fitted for the rudder lines and the wheel is now assembled this needed modifying as the wheel and the brass part were separate and were just mounted on a piece of wire. Had to Cut notches in end of brass part to locate and join together, then cut a brass nail down to use as the shaft. Cut thin slices of plastic tube to make bushes and fixed together with a drop of cyano. It is now functional .

Still on deck fittings, made some rather tricky jeer bits out of 3mm x3mm walnut strip that was supplied with kit, will need some sanding! the cross beams or fife rails are laser cut walnut ply so will need painting to cover raw edges.C9004564-DF82-42F4-8DD7-5ED18F78B0D9.jpeg
