Mantua Sergal's Cutty Sark

Sorry, but I also had my computer die and was not able to replace what was lost from this site's crash. The grates are made of cherry and are replacing the ones that were sent with the kit. The deck planking and lots of other things that were not correct in the model will be replaced with items that are in proper scale when I get back to this model. The newer version of this kit did away with some of the parts that were included in the previous model by this company but can be ordered from their catalogue. This I did and thus started working on the Sovereign while I was waiting. Mantua takes a while to get their parts. I knew what parts to get since I had started this model and was close to starting the rigging when the model was burned in a house fire.
 
I don't know how hackers do their dastardly deeds but they sure get my shorts in a twist. The computer doesn't actually do anything wrong but the hackers seize your passwords and without that you can't get back any sites that use that particular pass word. Happened twice to me and I had to change my email and start all over again with my contacts and other saved stuff. Fortunatly I haven't lost any of my pictures because they are in the computer in their own file and in Photobucket.
I notice some of you are sticklers for authenticity and that's great. I generally stick to what is provided by the kit and go with that. I do like to make some parts for the ships out of brass that are considerably stronger than the stuff in the kits but otherwise I use what's provided. Next I'll post some pics of the masts and yards and that will bring this log up to date. later.

Yes, that's what I have. 3 sheets by George Campbell, ordered from the museum shop in England. Price sounds the same. I can bring them and we can compare and see if there's any difference. The ones I have are okay. They're good enough to use, though I'm not thrilled with the resolution – I would have expected better.<br/>

Hi, I'm currently working on the Cutty Sark by Sergal 1/78 scale. Looking for more detailed plans and I see you found some by George Campbell. Do you happened to have a link to the shop where you purchased them? Thanks!

Thanks Clare. I sent away the the museum in England and got the actual three sheet of Campbell plans. The plans were 4 pounds each (12 pounds) and the shipping was 20 pounds (about $57.00 total). If you would like I could bring them and let you take them to get a copy made from them since I will be getting the parts to start my SOS and the Titanic kit when I go to Ages of Sail after the meeting. Thus, the Cutty might be dry docked for a while. I have parts that I ordered to wait for before finishing the Cutty. I need 2 mm planking material and a lot of other parts that I have Roger getting for me. The decking they provide in the kit was 4 mm wide which is over twice as large as the Cutty was planked with. Also the new kit was cheapened by photo-etched stanchions and deaeye plates. Thus, the parts below have been ordered and will have to wait for Mantua to send.
