"Mayflower" Yuanqing models

Hi everybody. I'm sorry for my poor English. I started building models a few years ago. Assembled: HMS "Beagle" (Occre), "Adventure Pirate schooner" (Amati), "Gunboat" (Milania). On pause, "Brigantine Phoenix" (Milania) is a very small size for me. I ordered a "Mayflower" from Yuanqing Models. Who has information about the company? The address of the official website?

I am not familiar with the mentioned company, but it is not uncommon for Chinese ship model manufacturers to sell their models under more than one brand name. A good percentage of the Chinese kits are simply counterfeit clones of kits from other manufacturers.

In this case, all I can tell you for sure is that this company is selling a kit to build a model we know little, if anything, about. No historical record of her appearance exists. They've just put the name "Mayflower" on somebody's fantasy of what a generic British merchant ship of that period may have looked like.

Here we go! The box containing the set is of decent quality. The dent is from shipping.

There are no instructions. There is a part sheet. There is a CD-ROM. I have four computers at home. They don’t have CD-ROM drives. I’ll try to make something at the office tomorrow. The drawings are in 1:1 format. Made on a photocopier. The quality is very poor.

The planks for the sheathing are of decent quality. The useful parts are packaged. There are ropes. I haven't tested the quality. The packaging is good. The masts are already tapered. That's good.

I checked the keel frame. The geometry was slightly out of alignment.

The seller says it's very difficult. The box has four stars out of seven. It looks like it'll be challenging.

There are instructions on the CD-ROM. 30 pictures. They're pretty clear. There are also separate instructions for assembling the boat. I found the official website. It's in every picture above. I'll visit it today.

What type of ship is the "Mayflower"? Sources identify it as a fluyt. A fluyt has a very rounded stern. The famous fluyt "Zeehagen" had a round stern. The replica is more reminiscent of a pinnace, with a flat stern. N. Witsen's book "Shipbuilding in the Dutch Golden Age" accurately points this out.

After removing the keel frame, it turned out to be more bent than I thought. I wet it with a little water and put it under a press. I hope it will straighten out. I'm looking for a jig for assembly. I bought one a long time ago, but never used it. There were smaller models.
