Norske Løve, Billing Boats, Scale 1:75

Norske Løve update: If I may say it myself, it has been a productive Saturday, but first the rails were finished on both sides last night. Todays work has been the rail around the "staircase" in front of the rudder wheel and the rudder wheel itself. Desided to use nails to fix the rail to the stanchions, so I had to drill a hole in them, Ø 0,8mm in both ends. The rudder wheel is also fixed with nails, one from each side. Made bushings from a toothpick to fit into the center of the wheel, Od Ø1,8mm, Id Ø0,8mm and fixed with super glue. Fiddly work, but I'm quite satisfied with it so far.

Well done, sir. I look forward to future installments detailing your progress.
I assembled this kit many (many!) years ago and it remains one of my favorites.
Thank your for sharing your own experience with us all.

Thank's "Kilo". To be honest I also started a long (long!) time ago too with Noske Løve, but never finished it, family life came in between. I've carried it around throuout the years and all movements, so eventually it got pretty damaged. I've been looking at it many times, wondering if I should do anything with it, or just throw it away, but a couple of years ago I made a decition to buy a new kit and start all over again and here I am now. Besides this I've also started with a modified version of Billing Boats Vasa, intending to install both gundecks on it

Looking good! I like your personal touches on the railings. These ships take years to complete. I had to take a break from mine to work on other stuff. ;)
Thank's Dean
Yes, I have my breaks too. Still working more or less full time, plus doing a bit of genealogy in between. Sometimes I get a lead about a distant (in time) relative, and that can keep me occupied for a while. At the moment struggling a little with the four columns at the stern gallery, not turning out the way a want, so I take a break and let it spin at the back or my head for a while. But anyhow, moving slowly forward :)

Again, a new mistake. Trying to clamp down the handrail to a piece of the fence at the stern castle when a corner just snapped off. That was a tricky one to get back, it was like it was born to fly. Eventually I formed a small piece of paper and used thin CA glue to keep the pieces in place. Once this was finished, I realized that I turned the fence-part upside down. I managed to cut it away and glue it back on the correct side and I hope the paint will cover any traces of this. It's like Dean62 sais, you need to take a break every now and then to look things over.

Paul beat me to it but I'll offer my congratulations for a very well rendered repair on a part that was almost certain to break at some point. Talk about grace under pressure. Nicely done.
