I started building kits the Bluenose was my first and gradually worked my way into scratch building. If you read a few build logs you will be able to get into it, it just takes time and patience.

I use a gantry style building jig (I could post the plans and instructions under the Tools, Lathes, Mills, Jigs and Techniques Section if there is any interest,) and the following photos show the keel being squared in the jig.
