There is a small learning curve ahead, printer software to download and learn, etc. But I already use a 3D cad software that I can export STL files from. So the modeling part is a given, I just have to take that file and turn it into a resin part. So I’m excited about that. Perhaps cutting out those wooden window frames for my ship is a thing of the past? Maybe I will print them since they have to be painted.![]()

I am still doing carvings by hand on my NL ship. But now I can print cannons and other things like that.Wow Dean! Your family really loves you! This opens up a ton of possibilities. Don't think for a moment, however, that this is going to let you off the hook for hand carving all those great boo ... er ... figures.
Edit - oops!my apologies. I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning. I had just been looking at @dockattner 's carvings and got confused about where I was. Nevertheless - you're going to have fun with your new toy!
sucks getting old
Thank you Daniel. What a great gift Dean! I'm looking forward to seeing some of your designs as you get familiar with the machine.
I use micro sol and micro set on all my decals. The provided decals in this kit are very thick, and micro sol only made them stick better, other than that I don’t think it phased them.Neat decalling.
I notice that you didn’t mention any setting solutions such as Micro Set and Micro Sol. Do you use them at all?
Your results could scarcely be improved but the solutions might make life easier for you.
