Fog clearinh away as the sound of ship's bell let me in a safe direction by received replies, so I am bettter able to continue. PT-2

Now I am lost in the doldrums and floating dead calm without progress while trying to find a thread reply from another shipmate assisting me in linking into a sub-group/thread/forum related to rigging but cannot find the track back to link in to that. Any recollections would be greatly appreciated to get the ship moving forward again in my blind search in a fog bank.

Sorry. I was still on page 37 of 38when I replied. Better shipbuilders than I have responded since then on rigging. By the way, I’m on vacation and away from my build, so I’m spending my time trying to get a ship fix by trolling the website. Anyone know of a great Soleil Royal wooden ship? My daughter is taken with that one and is looking to place it on her spacious mantle. I don’t want to pay over $600 for one I’ve seen them go for over $1000.

When in doubt of where a link is always try the search function or go to home page and look at major forum titles to see what they cover.

I have had hours of reading just from help topics and those forums.

I had tried that but I guess that my query input was not correct as I most often would have a reply of nothing found; and for names I was at a loss. Progress is being made though as in sailing/racing in very light wind there were two techniques to try: first heeling over more reducing bottom friction area; or secondly which would work better to move weight forward putting the bow down ("Bird Dogging") with in raising the flatter after hull area above the water would result in even less friction contact area. Off tack for the issue of forum searching but it came to my mind about search efficiency.
Congrats on what I think is your promotion to a Staff Member/Moderator. PT-2

Here is a tool that I have had and used for over 50 years . . . a multiple point divider that can open very accurately to span a bit over 8 inches. I use it to quickly find the center of something at the 5 point or multiple equally spaced divisions such as spacing hanks on a foresail to be threaded into a forestay. This 6-inch tool from Theo Altender & Sons, drafting company is used more often than my larger one which is a 12 inch divider. Very handy for my style of working. A crude trick is to mark a rubber band at equal points and stretch it out which does the same function but without the fulcrum pivot points. PT-2

Yes!!! I use mine to more quickly dry out the diluted white glue when making faux hanks for belaying pins and not let the long fall just coil or fake on the deck unless there is an actual reason for doing that given the "sailing" appearance of the ship. PT-2
