If your airbrush isn't packed up yet, you might consider another coat of matt varnish on the tires and anti-glare panels, but it could just be the angle of the lighting that appears to give those a bit of a sheen.

Thanks Nama, you just reminded me I need to overcoat the decals too, something about their tendency to 'silver out'??

The silvering is caused by a thin layer of air being trapped between the decal and a rough (usually matt) paint coat, and typically results from not gloss-coating a matt finish before applying the decals. Top-coating won't prevent that, but it will ensure the decals have the same finish (level of glossiness) as the rest of the painted surface.
 
I think a lot of us of a certain age build these models to make our dads proud, honor their service, and pass along an appreciation of things of more than material value.
My dad, a WWII Navy vet and special weapons systems designer from the drawing board to their practical use in sinking U-boats in the North Atlantic in 1944-5, got me started down this road of model building.
I love the tribute to your dads' service and the privilege of tagging along on the build. Thumbsup

I'd been intending to do one of the AC-130s my Dad flew in SEA, but never managed to get very far with it. Hauled the kit around with me for 30+ years, even after movers crushed one of the fuselage halves, but eventually parted with it when we had to downsize for the move to Japan.

There will be more plastic in my future as my skills in hiding joint lines and painting need much improvement, plus I find it enjoyable. For now, though I will be heading back to my old friends, the wooden sailing ships. I have my eye on ZHL's 1:48 POF Zebec. I haven't purchased it yet but getting close.

I sure thank everyone who came along on this build with me, half the fun of modeling is sharing it with you all.

Ok I did gloss coat everything before applying the decals, so I assume they are stable then.
