Revell B17-G Modified to a B17-H 1:48

It's interesting to see you two mention these products, I read about it somewhere and decided I needed all the help I could get so I bought some a month or so ago.

Thanks for the tips.
Your plane is looking great. I am also an avid user of micro set and micro sol. One tip, it sometime takes multiple applications of micro sol to really make the decal look painted on but it will. When you use it the decal may "curl" up a bit but just let it be, it will settle down. Here is an example of a mercury capsule I did you can see the decals follow the contours of the "shingles" on the hull.

Very interesting Johan. I believe that boat used by the RAF was the design of Uffa Fox and evaluated by Andrew Higgins, to which the Higgins A-1 design was a fortified version made for the B-17. Not sure what my next project will be but don't think it will be an airplane. Ha, my next project may very well be building shelfs to go around the upper walls in my office/workshop. I am out of room at the moment.

To be quite honest, I prefer the esthetics of the Lancaster above the ruggedness of the B17.

Every time I look at the Lancaster, (which recently has been often), I see a tough looking old bird very utilitarian in design. I have never really considered any comparison of the two just glad we had the British as allies. At this time, I don't have any desire to model a Lancaster.

Good afternoon, all, I trust everyone had a safe introduction into 2025. I had a nice little break from modeling while enjoying the holiday season with family and friends. So, after working up the fortitude to set the decals I finally have a little progress update. The decals are indeed the icing on the cake, while not perfect they really make the B17's looks pop. I also revamped the Higgins boat top gasket and have yet another dry fit up to show. The clearance from boat bottom to ground is still a wee bit shy of scale but it will do. With decals and tail number fixed I'm almost finished; my next post should probably be the finished product. The stars and tail numbers are from the kit supplied decals, the rest are from me printing the air rescue text onto waterslide paper, another excellent suggestion from this forum. Check it out.

The decals make such a great difference, Daniel. Up to the end in the beginning of this New Year.
Regards, Peter

Really looks amazing! The Higgins boat looks fantastic. I think your next choice will be if you want it to look pristine or to weather it. If you do decide to weather it my advice is that more is less, go lightly.
