@DonRobinson thank you. The gold colour, that I guess you cant correctly distinguish through these pictures its great, it makes the metal cast parts look like wooden plated with gold!
Christos, I would leave the natural wood finish - even though I had to paint my Haarlem, I am not fond of paint on wooden ship models. "Painting" with wood is a different story altogether!
I agree with Heinrich, I would much rather "paint" with wood than actually paint a hull. If I was to paint I would not use a pure white but would go to a white that is lightly tinted with a yellow or brown, something similar to the Ragusian Galley in my signature.
Hello Christos, I am no way expert in painting, but would like to bring to your attention something really important. Don't forget to remove the 'sprues' from decorations on the gun ports (red arrows). Those are the results of the casting process, holding parts together.
Hello Christos.I wanted to share this with you. This model was built by Piet Sanders - one of the doyens on the Forum (modelbouwforum.nl) - of the Panart Royal Caroline. He also opted for a natural wood finish without paint, hence I though I would show you.
