Royal Caroline Box wood edition 1/30 scale modified to fit carvings, build by neptune,

156.jpg
Then it was around to the Port side to attach those carvings,

157.jpg
However while trimming the top rail carving a piece split and broke off, they only give you the exact amount needed so i was'nt sure what to do,

158.jpg
I had a look through all the carvings and I found that they had mistakenly added two forward top rails so i cut a piece from one to repair the broken piece,

159.jpg
a close up of the repair,

I steamed and clamped the fore lower rail in place and left it to dry,

163.jpg
while waiting for the rail to dry i finished the two companion ways and assembled the sky light and the fore Bitts,

PS I should add that I decided to paint the companion ways red, they blend in much better that way,

best regards john.

before attaching the lower carved rail I cut out a portion of the plain section into which the channels will fit, this is for the mizzen channels,

165.jpg
for the Main channel,

166.jpg
and the fore channel,

167.jpg
I had to thin down the channels , this is the fore glued in place, and I'm in the process of gluing the carving above into place,

best regards john.

finished installing the eye bolts and rings for the Anchor stopper ropes and the various other bits that go under the Focsle, so its ready for the deck to go on,

178.jpg
but before the deck can go on I have to attach the Galley smoke stack, when i got the kit from Greg he had already started on the stack and he had carved it and covered it with copper tiles, some of the copper tiles had lifted and when i tried to repair them some of the wood to which they were glued ended up splitting, so i decided to make another Stack, I cut the old stack in half to use as a pattern,

179.jpg
I still have some good quality Jelutong so I marked out the shape of the stack and cut it out in one piece,

180.jpg
in the process of cutting to shape,

181.jpg
nearly there,

182.jpg
just testing for looks and fit,

183.jpg
and after painting it black,

best regards John,

while waiting for paint, glue etc to dry I started drilling out the window openings for the stern galleries, I drilled them out on my Mill / drill and finished them off with files, one finished and one to go.

186.jpg
and both finished, have to decide now about glazing them,

best regards John.

Happy 79th Birthday, John! Birthday-Cake
At this point, you've earned the right to forget where you put your glasses while wearing them, and no one gets to question it, wishing you a day full of laughter, cake, and maybe a nap or two (you've earned them all).
