Good day everyone, thanks for everyone visiting my build log and for the nice comments.
I started to build up the forecastle bulwark and framing ,also planking the bulwark inside and outside.
First , before I glued on the forecastle deck applied a coat of poly right below the forecastle deck.
Then glued on the deck and started to build up the bulwark.
Next step planking the outer part of the bulwark in diagonal.
Next is planking the inner bulwark.
You are doing a good job. I have never thought about these vessel as being unbecoming, but upon seeing your model, it shows that these were pretty blaw looking vessels. Not the glorious looking ones from the 1600's but were designed for functionality only.
Very nice work you are doing on your Santa Maria. Sure do like the way that you are using your contour gage and with such great results, must look into acquiring one of for my Old Ship Yard, ENJOY.
Next step, poop deck bulwark/railing, gave me a little headache since I made the mistake that I was building the whole structure on the poop deck instead off the ship.
The first step was to glue on the railings base.
Then I started to build up the framing
Good day everyone, poop deck railings/bulwarks buildup continues,I also glued on a few extra strip for decoration and stability.
First ,gluing the cap rails, this made more stable the whole structure.
Than I started to build up the railings inner posts, these posts again made the structure even more stable than the cap rails.
Next step was to add the cross "X" decorations between the posts.
and I cut out a piece of decoration for the stern railing.
Great job on your Railing Columns they sure do look good. One would never expect that they started life as a toothpick, WELL DONE. Your Poop Deck is starting to look very nice, sure do like the extra detail that you are adding to your ship, ENJOY.
Hello, thank you guys for visiting my build log and for the nice comments, the shipyard has been slow in the last few weeks,I will have some updates soon.I got the idea for using the tooth picks from Denis(Popeye).
