Santisima Trinidad Cross-Section 1:90 OcCre - Second Build

Looks nice sitting on your display table.
The display table was just for the pictures. It is one of the Admiral's plant stands. The finished build will hang on that wall in a display case, yet to be built.

Got all the standing rigging, ratlines, and yard rigging done. Now it is time to start hanging the sails and doing their rigging. The Admiral made a set of sails instead of using the ones that came with the kit. The Admiral's sails are on the left. I like them so much better. So time to attach the blocks on the corners and then install them.20250724_200554.jpg

Hey Rebus,

I hope your vice-admiral doesn't make a ball of wool out of your great cross-section. You've got real courage ... ;)

I think you've done a really great job. It just looks beautiful and coherent. Your admiral was so right to use the new sails. Great fabric. It doesn't look as bulky as the original sails.

Keep it up, I'll stay on the ball.

Best regards

Günther,

This Vice Admiral has been with me for 12 1/2 years. We have standing orders about models that are followed 99% of the time. She is almost always in observation and inspection but not touching. I often save a spare piece for her to play with.

Thanks for your kind words. I have really enjoyed this build.

I did let the Admiral know that her sails were more superior. She says thank you.

Cheers

Have decided to use a floating shelf as the base for the case. I'm going to add some 1/4 inch stock around the edge of the shelf. Now I can get the measurements for the acrylic pieces for the three sides and the top. They will be put together with redline double back tape. More 1/4 inch stock will be added where the acrylic touches the wall.

Backside that will be against the wall.

Stock is insert 3/16.

The bottom stock pieces will be attached to the shelf. The top and wall pieces of stock will all be one unit. Hoping this idea will work because it will then be clear on three sides.

Here it is about 98% done. Rope hanks need to be made to hang on the belay pins. Still to be added are some 1:89 figurines. Then I will take some closer photos to show more details. Yeah, the case I'm hoping to finish this week.

Hey Rebus,

That looks really great. You've realised it very nicely. And yes, the sails are awesome. Your Admiral did a great job and makes the model even more beautiful! I can't wait to see how it looks on your shelf.

Best regards

Really enjoyed doing this cross-section. Thanks for your kind words.

Love your build of the Cross-Section. The Santisima Trinidad C.S is my next project and I hope mine is half as good as yours . (“ God , let me be half the man my dog thinks I am “). I too want to add crew to my model. Where did you get yours?

Monty,

Thank you for the kind words. I enjoyed doing the cross-section and now want to do the whole ship. So that's what I will be working towards since I'm new to ship building.

I was able to find figurines that are almost the same scale. The Occre model is 1:90 and I found some 1:89 figurines on sale at a hobby store. They can be purchased in a number of places. They are from Artesinia Latina. They are French figurines so I'm looking into how to paint them with Spanish colors.

Hey Rebus,

Freue mich schon darauf.

Cheers

Soon to be done with this ship. I enjoyed building it and am happy the way it turned out. Tomorrow I will hang it in its permanent place in the dining room.

The Admiral is impressed with it all and the way it is presented. That is great since she bought it for me and wanted it to be displayed in the dining room.

I still need to paint the crew and add them to the ship. That may take me a couple of weeks since I haven't started on them. Lots of painting to do. There is a cabin boy added already, hope you find him.
