On to building carriages and guns for the lower deck. The kit included carriages were one piece metal with wheels. Not to my liking.
Also though about how to add capsquare keys; the unlocking pins did need one more part (small chain or rope) that I left out. Photos are self-explanatory so keeping written post to a minimum.

Now onto buttoning up carriage rigging, adding a few more detail bits then starting the mid gun deck…….Still thinking to myself, will not add four more carriages to that deck, but instead tables and hammocks (though hammocks may be hard to properly scale Hmmm then maybe just one gun. Again deck planks will be sparse in order to see lower gun deck details.

Thanks for sharing this Michael, I plan on using this as a guide when I work on my guns. Fantastic job.
Jim, the gun monograms come from Syren Ship Model Co. as well as the blocks and the ropes. Syren was also sourced for my Vasa; all ropes and blocks.

You can put this build in the scratch section by now. I think only the box is still what is left from the kit.
. Really great modifications. You can have a look on etsching as well if you want to make your own parts like the monograms. Greg posted a nice topic with videos of photo etsching.

Yes ---- I knew that the monograms were English, that said nobody in my life who looks at this model when done will 1) notice the monograms 2) ever know the difference. Here at SoS - of course its obvious
I almost made a notation when I posted, but assumed, correctly enough, that it would be brought up.
PS: LOVE those cannons - My next build will be a Viking long boat - though I just might put some on the quarter deck - those would be seen. I know this source always thought of getting some, but hmmmm BTW The ship models that are photographed within are also superb .

So almost wrapped up the lower gun deck - looks a lot more tidy indeed. Now working on the mid gun deck floor framing, a few bits of which are visible in a couple of shots. That deck will need some new thinking for me as there are some details that I need to work out as well.

Been away from almost everything for a month as well as catching up with the builds I’m following as here as well.
Turns out the carrier that I retired from asked if I would be interested in returning to do some ground training for new crews. Agreed, so have been in Seattle getting up to snuff on new equipment procedures (including that crew issue with the 737 Max). It will be temporary work so should work out – Hope to get back to this build/and catching up soon.

In the meantime have done a bit –This cross section – being my first effort at looking at and trying to detail an interior, I wanted to also include the mechanism for the gun door pull rope tackles. My previous build (Vasa) was easy in this regard just inserted the loose end of the ropes into the hull.
Looked at several ideas – what I installed seems to be, for its date, historically correct as best as I can determine.
Also added more lights, a stair, and installed the mid-gun deck; need to add knees, a couple of buckets as well as one more sponge pole to lower gun deck and other structural bits. Here are some shots. As always thanks for dropping by, looking, comments and likes --Now need to catch up with great build logs here....

Shipyard has been closed for a bit longer than expected. Minor update but a big one for me -- the yard is actually open again.
Beyond getting involved in some other outside work, turned out that it had also finally come the time to no longer avoid fixing my right wrist. So four weeks after of a carpal tunnel procedure, fingers can now feel as though I never had that issue in the first place. Enjoying full use of right hand.

So what to do with mid-gun deck? Decided not to completely rig four more guns and carriages, but instead do a minimalist look at how some sleeping and eating was achieved on gun decks. Mid gun deck seemed the right place. This would also keep a continued open look to this cross section.
I had some leftover material from sails - I have already them finished for this build; Incorporated a scrap to fashion a hammock. Pics are self explanatory so minimal “how to” – also added a table – many of which were placed between gun carriages - as you all know during meals.
Will add lanterns as well as several other details.
I am also considering adding one rigged carriage, but one that is in a “stored” sideways position inside the deck – have not located any drawings on how that should look. (Not even sure that this is correct?) Hmmm –here are a few updated photos
