Sergal Cutty Sark scale 1:78 Robertd [COMPLETED BUILD]

Just watched some very informative and sailing experiences on YouTube of the real thing with her competitor Thermopylae on the Wool run from Australia to England and earlier on on the Tea run , hence the name Tea Clippers but obsolete and made redundant by steamships and the opening of the Suez Canal.
Something @Heinrich got me into is the History of the ship we build- for me I appreciate my building so much more- Sorry Robert we could not avenge Australia- England got us by one point.

Waffling a bit- I really am enjoying your fantastic build as this was my late Dads favorite ship- he owned his own yacht and was mad about sailing and ships from that period. Great job.
The history of the various builds is an important inspiration to build these vessels , it is a part of the hobby , and thanks for your lovely remarks , I always like to add some personal touches so here and there , as we all know the kits are basic, yes I owned my own yacht as well , but for health reasons we had to sell it , so spend more time on the models

Another week gone by , more yards 2 more to go , so now and then I replace the hanks as they are not up too scratch , the rat lines almost completed , top rat lines foremast PS still to do , and here and there a tidy up or perfection needed , the pilot ladder stays un painted , they always are .

Also I have to tidy Nannie’s cutty sark and add some gold on her dress

Ahh that is a cool yacht- you must miss her. Great memories tho I’m sure. Back when my Dad was alive he had a Lavarnous 34. We had fun times racing - good memories always to be remembered.

Yes it was fun Grant , heaps of memories , not a racer as such more a cruiser with heaps of space and comfort , sort of a floating caravan !

Grant - so I imagine that you were no stranger to RCYC's Wednesday Twilight Races?

Robert, your Hunter looks beautiful. She must have been an absolute joy - how about some below-deck shots?
Yes Heinrich , we throughly enjoyed her , sometimes’ ripping dollars ‘ under the shower , the engine blew up , so that had to be replaced , but it gave us life in Sydney when we moved from Melbourne , joined the RPAYC in Newport , actually there is a video taken by the broker who sold the boat on YouTube

Thank you so much Robert. She is indeed a beauty! Unfortunately I cannot access YouTube (I'm a law-abiding citizen who has not succumbed to the lure of VPN!) but the photographs really tell their own story. One's mind can be set free and your imagination running vivid by just looking at the pics.

Lived in Durban at time RNYC....lovely pics of your Hunter Robert. Almost as Beautiful as your Cutty Sark;)
Thanks Grant, I know SA very well , as a MN officer sailed between SA and Australia back and forwards on the ‘Safocean Albany‘ registered in Durban , owned by Royal Interocean Lines (Dutch) but in joint venture with Saf Marine

I thought to take her outside with clouds in the background is spectacular, still working on the yards and tidying up , I used a gold pencil to address the ’cutty’ and the name on the bow that had a copper shade , also hanks to be replaced here and there , she is back in the garage ( ship yard) for completion , I obtained a decent size tweezer as it becomes more and more difficult to gain access with all the ropes etc , well almost 6 months ago when I started this project , immensely enjoy building her
