Just saw the HMS Rattlesnake kit from ModelExpo - the 1:72 scale wooden kit. Wow. The instructions were very thorough. For instance, I'm rigging up the HMS Sherbourne right now, from Vanguard. And where the instructions for the Sherbourne will show a finished block and state this is what you do without any howtos whatsoever - the instructions for the HMS Rattlesnake will show you how to assemble and rig that finished block. And they both call themselves beginner kits, but I claim that no 1:64 or 1:72 scale kit is a beginner kit. The bits are just too tiny - and it also depends on the instructions. Anyway - I'm in love with the Rattlesnake instructions - and even though I swore no more 1:64 kits (I've been happier with 1:24 to 1:48 scale kits) I'm really thinking about purchasing this 1:72 kit. So much lovely detail. Another thing, the Sherbourne kit had the catheads mounted to the hull, but not rigged to the anchors. Where the Rattlesnake shows you how to rig the catheads to the anchors. Love it.
