Instalation of sockets for LED's is going nicely so far. I am now starting to attach wires to the sockets but soldering not working well at all..
The soldering tools that I had used for many years died last year and my new soldering iron is terrible. Any ideas for improving/replacing?

Hi Steven,

That's a pitty.
A few years ago I bought a low cost soldering station with heat gun from AliExpress I think it was, it has worked very well in fact better than I expected and is similar to this one but not the same.
Looks like it doesn't come with all the other bits pictured in the first 2 photos.
Of course you don't have to buy this one if you don't want to but it gives you an idea of what is out there.

I am looking for small LED sockets, about ten 64ths inch diameter. I would plug-in LEDs on the face of the socket and connect the wires to the rear of of the socket.
Jan introduced me to this method and I love it. None of the several hobby shops in my area have such sockets. It seams like all the hobby shops have adapted to LED's that are attached directly to the wires so plug-in LED's are not an option.
Please advise.

I am guessing that you have had a look at electronics shops, I don't know what there is where you are.

Hi,

I would look at Radio Controlled airplane or boat websites to see how they use LEDs for lighting. Also YouTube has quite a few videos on the subject. I used "RC airplane LED lighting" as my search parameters. From what I found a possibily would be using a micro/mini "Female" connector cable and insert the ends of the LEDs into it.
