Here is a more detailed pic of the forward officers sleeping area including the sonar room and the radio room. In the far right hand corner, notice the boats head, 1 for the whole crew, which is made of 5 pieces. This entire structure is made of approx. 110 pieces.
These two pics try to give the reader a sense of the size and scale of the pieces I have to work with. This piece of machinery will be located in the main control room - which follows.
Here, the forward bulkhead is attached to the aforementioned assembly. This final joining is a particular pain in the ass as there are 9 separate attachment pins and slots that have to aligned before the piece sits correctly. The black thing in the middle of the pic is the periscope.
I know it's been a while since I have posted pics of the Sub progress, but, like everyone else, building the sub is not the only thing I have to do. Anyway, following are the assembly pics of the next section of the Sub, the rear living quarters, which sits above the rear Battery Packs. This first picture shows all of the major subassemblies that make up the rear living section. A total of 70 pieces make up the finished assembly, 8 pieces on the roof, 4 pieces on the forward bulkhead, 9 pieces on the aft bulkhead, 22 pieces on the rear wall, 13 pieces on the floor, and 14 pieces making up the battery pack.
