Ulises - Occre by Bill C

Spray painting of the hull has commenced. I will let it dry over night and review tomorrow. Suspect I will do a polish with very fine sandpaper and then another spray of undercoat before starting the top coats. I carefully masked up the top of the bulwarks and the decking before starting the spraying process

I decided after twenty-four hours to, very carefully, remove the masking tape. So here she is. I will leave masking and spraying, burgundy, below the waterline until Wednesday, the next forecast dry day. I am really not sure what to do with the rubbing strake. Leaving it blue would be the easy option, but having taken another look at the photos of The Ross Tiger I think it needs to be a contrasting colour.

A question was asked, way back in September, about the spotlight mounted on the wheelhouse roof of Tug 66, Ulises. The answer is that I intend to have all the lights, so navigation, steaming and spotlight operating. That's a task for the new year.

And when he is not messing about with model trains ... Its model boats. Crabber "Debbie" in the foreground. Tug 66 "Ulises" in the rear. "Debbie" is 1:20 scale, Ulises is 1:30 and the trains on the C&CSRR are 1:48. So now you know!

I am building Ulises by Occre. This is my first venture into ship modelling, although I have been building model railroads on various scales for more than half a century. I am up to the hull painting phase. So far so good and great fun gas been had. There appears to be lots of useful advice here. Good to be aboard!!
Hallo @Bill L-C
